  Future Pro Lake Oroville

Fishing on Lake Oroville during the late summer and early fall can be feast or famine. The key to success is locating the schools of pond smelt. Find the bait and the wolf packs of hungry spotted bass will not be far away.

The algae that has everyone “up in arms” these days at Clearlake is called Lingia.  It is much more "sticky" than previous types of algae...

Early Spring is one of my favorite times of year to fish Lake Berryessa. The fish are in full transition mode as they make their way from their winter haunts to their spawning locations.

Folsom in the month of April is one of the best lakes in the northern California. As many anglers do not know, on April 1st of each year, the lake's inflows are not required to match the lake's outflows and water storage for summer use begins.

If I was fishing Berryessa in March this is how I would approach it. With the tournament being in the early spring I feel that the two most important factors will be the weather and the moon phase. These two will hold true on any body of water you fish this time of year. First the weather...and I will try to make it simple. If it has been steadily warming with sable weather there will be more fish moved up into the spawning areas and tighter to the bank. If the weather has been unstable, look for them to pull out on the first break leading into the spawning area or suspend off points.
